Right in the middle of it all, the Briarwood Neighborhood is located in between Titus Avenue, St. Paul Boulevard and Cooper Road. Unlike Seneca Side and Winona Woods nearby, the majority of this area remained farms and fruit orchards until after WWII. The last remaining vestiges of this agrarian past being Oldenburg’s Farm and Genrich’s Garden Center. As a result there is a great diversity of homes with older 1920s homes near the corners, and 1940s capes, 1950s ranches, and 1960s split levels comprising the center. Neighborhood fixtures Genrich’s Garden Center (est.1960) and the Oldenburg Farm (est.1900) on St. Paul Boulevard are two rare agrarian businesses still going strong to this day.
